FISHING - Offshore and reef
fishing occurs in or near the Gulf Stream, a warm water current originating
in the Gulf, running past the Keys and stretching on to England.
Trolling with one of our captains can bring great success in catching
spectacular Sailfish, Mahi Mahi, Barracuda, Kingfish, Marlin, and
Wahoo.
One of the best fishing locales
in the Middle Keys is called Marathon West Hump, accessible on a
full-day charter from Hawks Cay Resort. This is a sudden uprising
surrounded by deep water which attracts large numbers of baitfish
which, in turn, attract Mahi Mahi, Marlin, and Tuna.
We invite you to try your hand
at finding Sailfish, Mackerel, and Barracuda amongst all the live
and artificial reefs surrounding Duck Key. The rich coral
life attracts feisty Snapper and tenacious Grouper which can provide
delicious meals when fishing is done.
In the winter months (November
through April) fishing is best along the reef edge to catch Sailfish,
Yellowtail, and Mangrove Snapper. The summer months (May
through October) provide great Gulf Stream action for Mahi Mahi,
Wahoo, and Blue Marlin.

- Cancellation
Policy:
We ask that cancellations for charter trips occur 5 days
prior to the scheduled trip in order to avoid cancellation
fees. Those charters cancelled less than 5 days prior to
the trip will be charged a fee of half the charter price.
Please be advised that trips cancelled less than 24 hours
before departure time will be charged the full charter rate.
Weather cancellations are determined solely by the Captain
and charters cancelled by the Captain due to weather are
not subject to a cancellation fee.

| FLATS/BACKCOUNTRY
FISHING -
The
vast amounts of shallow water on ocean side flats, and on banks
and flats throughout Florida Bay and the Everglades Park, provide
anglers with the unique experience of Keys Flats and Backcountry
fishing.
Flats
fishing with either Fly gear or light spinning gear combines the
experience of hunting and fishing, as you actually stalk and then
cast to spectacular sport species like Bonefish, Permit and Tarpon,
often in water as shallow as a foot deep.
Bonefish and Permit provide long lightning-fast runs and
Tarpon offer leaps to amaze and challenge any angler.
Full day charters can get you to the Everglades Park where
Redfish and Snook add to the possibilities.
If
you prefer general Backcountry Fishing to sightfishing, Florida
Bay offers trout, sharks, barracuda, jacks and snapper.
Large
Tarpon ranging to over one hundred pounds migrate through the Keys
each spring and early summer.
Live bait trips, particularly around dusk, offer may anglers
the best chance to do battle with the Giant Silver King.
Beware: Tarpon
